I’m a 19 year old female. 5′ 2″..103 Ibs.. I want to gain weight. I am trying to decide if I want to try some type of powdered protein shake or powdered weight gainers. Are they safe? And will they make me look like a bodybuilder? — because that is not what I want to look like..I know people say eat more..but that just doesn’t work with me, I don’t know why, but it just doesn’t. I just can’t get above 105 to save my life!! And it’s just always been this way. =/

they are not bad for you but they are not necessary. just eat meats and dairy products to gain some lean muscle. you will not end up looking like a bodybuilder because as a girl you will not have adequate testosterone levels to reach that level of musculature. female bodybuilders take male hormones to get to the size they do.
If you have problems reaching the required amount of protein each day they are very useful. They are also very useful for quick protein after a workout. They are perfectly safe, most people who say they aren’t are talking about an old study regarding kidneys and protein, but the test subjects all had kidney disease, so it doesn’t mean anything to a healthy person.
The only way you’ll look like a female bodybuilder is if you take testosterone supplements.
You are not a old female and a guy do not like a fat girl. Why you are worried about that?. If you are healthy, it is fine. Why do you want to increase your weight. There is no medicine to gain or loose weight. All Powdered contains steroids that are bad for health. Most of fat girls are jealous of slim girls. You should feel proud that your slim. Once you get married you gain weight.
Only lot of eating do not make you fat. It is the fluctuation of hormone in human body and it varies from person to person. Once you gain fat it is very difficult to loose weight. Dont focus on your weight ,but you need to on your health.
Remember those medicine are all fake and contains steroids which is bad for health.
Thanking You

I haven’t heard any problems associated with weight gainers beyond the fact that certain high protein ones can cause problems for the liver if you don’t drink enough water (some of these weight gainers have a very high count of sugar).
Personally, I think you should stick with food that has good sources of carbs / fat but I understand that some people are to busy or simply can’t eat that much (not a problem I’ve ever had).
I would note that gaining “fat” isn’t the weight gain you really want and it certainly won’t give you the body you might be hoping for. This is what will happen if you just slam weight gainers.
You really need to convert those extra calories into MUSCLE, not fat (a little fat isn’t bad but pure fat isn’t). For women that are under weight you need to reduce the amount of calories you burn from cardio and set-up a weight training / strength training program. You won’t get big / bulky like a man.
your absolutely fine to take those. . . . and infact. . they may be very good for your immune system. . . . because your whole body needs the fulll array of amino acids. . and sometimes are diet does not provide everything we need. .
and its pre digestable source of protein that keeps into the muscle quick. .
they are very safe. . . . . the only aspect in which one has to worry is if they have a liver or kidney disease. . and they have to be carefull with dosages. . .
i would start with the whey protein first. . . and go for a clean whey protein. . one that does not have much sugar or carbs
and get the weight gainer if u do not see results with the regular whey. . but with this u will need a blender
and no this will not turn u into a freakish bodybuildor. . . it takes alot more then just that
