I’m currently weight training about 3-4 times a week. There are a lot of protein supplements/shakes in the gym and I was wondering if that’s good for muscle building. What are the positives/negatives?

Protein is needed to build muscle. You can get it from food such as eggs, meat, chicken, etc, but if you can’t eat a lot or just don’t want to, then protein shakes come in handy. There are no negatives except for the price.
If your diet is for some reason deficient, they can help, but then so would a simple change in diet. A few top athletes find them convenient because diet alone tends to become impractical if your workouts are six or eight hours a day.

Hi,
Yes they are. Protein supplements make it easier for you to consume the needed amounts of protein to help repair the muscles. They are easy to digest, make and taste good. You don’t really need them, you could get your protein from foods such as chicken, turkey, tuna, etc. . . BUT again protein shakes are very convenient.
You can drink the protein supplement many times a day, but two times that is very important is right when you wake up and after you finish your training, to help repair and recover the muscle fibers.
Hope this helps!
