is it okay for females to use protein powders that are geared towards men?? my brother, who’s very intelligent and was also a trainer at la fitness for some time told me i should try this stuff myofusion, he compared it to what i was using now and it tastes better….its fewer calories and lower in carbohydrates. only questionable thing about is that when you look at the sites and reviews on it…they all say ‘extreme body building’. does that REALLY matter, do you really need to be a male bodybuilder or can a 21 year old female take it too???

I’m a female and i work out regularly. I use two kinds of protein powders and for two different reasons. The main reason though, for both of them, is for faster muscle recovery.
I use:
1. Syntrax Nectar-fuzzy navel flavor. It has 0 carbs and is very low in calories and has a lot of whey protein in it. It tastes like a juice and isn’t creamy and i like that. I use this one after a long run of cardio at an intense level that I follow up with weights. It aids in muscle recovery meaning it helps your muscles restore their fibers more quickly.
2. Designer whey. This one has like 1 more carb per serving but i like taking the chocolate and mixing it with soy milk and a bit of peanut butter. I use this one after a super super super intense workout to regain some protein and also keep me from getting super hungry.
Neither of these things will make your muscles bulk or gain, but it remains that more men than women use these supplements so the reviews are going to mostly be by men.

and no, none of this will make you turn in to the pink hulk. just slender and shapely, and that’s not so bad!
I think your brother’s right about this: he’s a trainer, he would know. Your gender shouldn’t make a difference. The websites and advertising focus on men because that’s where they probably get most of their business. As more women start focusing on building muscle, we might see more balanced advertising for these products.
