  1. Kroptonik says:

at least 5 days a week, 3-4 for lifting 1-2 for cardio. . . make sure you give your muscles sufficient time to recuperate (atleast 1 day) focus on 2 or 3 muscles a day not all of them every day

different things work for different people. decide what you want to do based on what works best for you, what you enjoy, and your daily schedule.

just remember everything works if you eat right, get enough rest, and train hard.

most programs are designed so that you go the same days each week, but you can change it up if you’d like. you can do a 3 day full body routine, which is normally
on off on off on off off – repeat the next week
where you’d have 3 slightly different workouts planned for each of the 3 days you lift every week, containing about one lift per muscle group

or you can do a 4 day push-pull split, which is normally
push pull off push pull off off – repeat
where exercises are categorized by pushing or pulling, the back of the body is mostly pulling and the front pushing, chest = bench = push, row = back = pull, quads = squat = push, hamstrings = deadlift = pull, triceps push, biceps pull, etc.
some people even like to do push pull legs, where they push and pull for upper body on two different days and do all legs exercises on a designated day

or you can do a 3 day split, either once a week
chest and triceps, off, back and biceps, off, shoulders and legs, off, off
or twice a week, do the 3 workouts twice before one day off, although this is a lot of volume to do if you aren’t eating a lot and getting enough rest, and you probably don’t want to go real heavy both days of a pair

basically it’s whatever you want to do man, try different things, work out your own program and give it time to really see if it works or not. keep in mind full body routines are said to be more for overall size than aesthetic proportion, and splits are the other way around, some pro bodybuilders go full body in the off season and to splits leading up to a competition, although each should give you a lot of both with hard work (bodybuilders do lean towards splits though).

Start off with three days a week. Eventually you may decide on 4. Remember that giving your muscles a rest is just as important as training them.

An couple excellent routines are Starting Strength and Bill Starr’s 5×5. They are made up of compound lifts, these are lifts that use multiple muscle group, and build lots of strength. It’s important to know that the best bodybuilders as well as strength athletes build their base by building lots of strength with big basic lifts.

If you follow these routines or similar ones, and eat enough, you’ll gain plenty of muscle and strength.
