Only in America do Women want to become Men, and Men Want to Become Women. Comments?

To expound on this. I do not mean that women and men want to have a sex change. Rather, I mean to say that in America:
1. Women want to take on more “masculine” roles or jobs. Examples: Women firefighters, CEO’s.
2. Some women want to even physically become more masculine- by doing high intensity workouts, playing sports, getting “buff”. Examples: Women’s soccer, golf, and female bodybuilders.

All this while many men want to take on more “feminine” roles. Examples: Male homemakers(and female breadwinners), metrosexuals.

Is this comment reflective of a real trend? Is this trend exclusive to America? If so, what are the causes of this?

stop putting labels on everything. a women can be a ceo and not be masculine and a man can stay home and take care of his kids without being feminine, its called being human and doing whats right.

Uh, this does happen all over the world. . . where have you gotten your information? Have you BEEN other places? Other countries have women in the military, and in all kinds of jobs. There is metrosexuality in any country that has style.

Gender and sex roles are part of the human game and balanced people can play the boundaries. It all depends on what one is comfortable with.

this is not true only in America, it is true in most countries.
and i don’t think that taking jobs that were traditionally male jobs means that women want to be men. ALL jobs except teacher, secretary, and nurse used to be exclusively male jobs. do you think women should be restricted to those 3 jobs? i don’t, and i certainly don’t want to be a man, i just want to be able to have a good job.
metrosexual doesn’t mean taking on feminine roles, it just means that guys take care of their appearance and care about fashion and things like that.

It’s reflective of people shedding all of the vague gender-roles that we have been told to inhabit for a very long time without real reason.
