A lot of times great strikers are nullified because they are matched up against wrestlers and we a re forced to see a boring ground wrestling match. Who would like to see wrestling shoes so tht at least strikers have a fair shot at keeping the fight standing?

no keep it how it is
they used to, don’t know if its still on the books but the rule was if you wore the shoes you couldn’t kick. A couple guys tried it, strikers who couldn’t kick lost the ability to defend low and got taken down anyways
In my opinion, wrestling shoes would be a disadvantage when in there with a submission artist. Once they got you in a leg bar or a heel hook it would be over. There is no way you would be able to wiggle your way out of a heel hook when they submission has the added traction of your wrestling shoe to sink it in place.
wrestlings succks i say shoes if tht would help keep it up
No I don’t think so. Laces cause cuts and abrasions to easily-there is a reason why they cover the laces of boxing gloves with tape you know. Also a wrestling boot would restrict a person’s ability to flex their ankle, foot, and toes for certain types of kicks as well as lend that ankle support against certain types of ankle locks. One could make an argument for some of the soft shoes that you are currently seeing some fighters using in sport karate but I think they should be illegal as well. I think they will be once someone gets the point of one in the eye and insurance companies refuse to insure tournaments that allow them.
How in the world would wrestling shoes keep the fight standing? The UFC is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion. I don’t know a lot about some of the less traditional martial arts, but I can’t think of any martial art that requires you to wear shoes, unless you throw in wrestling. Even then I don’t know if they require you to wear the shoes.
Wrestling shoes, shirts, no gloves, and hair pulling are all part of the UFC’s past, let’s keep that stuff there.
Although you may think it would be more entertaining with wrestling shoes and more fair, the truth is it would put many good fighters out of commission. The reason they were banned was because if one person steps on the others foot, and that person tries to pull their foot away, it’ll cause the toe/toes to be pulled out away from the foot tearing all the ligaments and tendons that were connecting the toe. This is extremely painful and will put most fighters out of commission for a little while.
I’d rather watch my favorite fighters for 4 seasons instead of 4 matches.
It forces the strikers to have good footwork or a great takedown defense. I think it balances it out for the wrestlers. Takedowns take a lot more effort than a few jabs and a cross.
The problem is if they does allow wrestling shoes, then what is next? People will want gi, grappling pants, and list goes on to be allows. Where will we stop at?
