Sorry, I know this is a Women’s Health forum, but I wanted a female opinion. I have an awkward situation. My girlfriend for a year wants me to wear a Speedo when we go out to a Carribean vacation in March. She got this idea when she started complimenting me on my physique when I was changing clothes and only wearing low-rise briefs. (I wear low-rise to hold all my “junk” firmly.)
Anyways, she says I she should be proud of my physique and sometimes humorous says I should show off like a male peacock. As for me, I’m usually very body conscious and humble and I feel awkward wearing club clothes and wearing speedos when they are SO attention-seeking and may give off an impression of superficiality.
Don’t get me wrong, I do have a good physique and good looks. (I’m 26 years old weighing 230 lbs, 6′ 2″ with a 33 in. waist and I have a physique that’s between an athlete and a bodybuilder.) I do a lot of weight training!
But isn’t wearing a speedo too much?!? Plus I have a moderate amount of chest and leg hair. To give you an idea of my physique, this is probably the most similar body type:

Except the thickness in chest hair would also be on the legs as well.
Furthermore, she wants me to keep the body hair if I wear a Speedo. LOL….yeah. She says it makes me more manly, and I do agree but isn’t an eyesore if I wear a speedo publicly? Do you guys and girls think this is TOO much?
What would you think if you saw at the pool or beach like that with my girlfriend? Should I wear the speedo or not? With or without the chest hair & leg hair?
Just to add, she’s not forcing me or pushing me over to do anything.
She just wants me to be a bit adventurous in clothing, and I get the impression for romantic reasons as well.
Well honestly no one wants to see pubic hair, so maybe shave it? lol. guys dont shave it do they. . . maybe wear something similar to a speedo, or tell her that you feel unconfortable in it, if she tries to twist how you feel just tell her that you will try your best, to wear what your confortable in. she wouldnt wear a bikini in the snow right? its like you not wearin speedos in the summer or at all lol.

Get a speedo and wear it for her when you’re at the hotel room, but wear a regular bathing suit when you’re out in public. Speedos in public are not the best idea, and if it makes you uncomfortable then yeah don’t do it.
I suggest that you get a square cut speedo, like the one Bond wears.
I also think you should wear it. Things are different in much of the Caribbean. People are not so uptights and there will be other speedo wearers. Also, you will find that they are ten times more comfortable than baggy shorts for swimming.
Americans (both men and women) are paranoid about men wearing speedo type swimsuits, however the rest of the world doesn’t share those thoughts. In the Caribbean there will be many vacationing Americans, but there will also be many Europeans and Latin Americans whom won’t think as Americans. I’m sure you wouldn’t be the only one wearing a speedo there, unlike in America. Either way, you’ll be away from home and not likely to encounter anyone you know or will ever see again, so if your girlfriend would like to see you in one, why not.
My wife is European and is used to men wearing speedo type suits and hates me wearing trunks. So when we’ve been away from home I’ve obliged her and found it not to be as embarrassing as I expected and are actually much more comfortable swimming in and dry quickly. Women don’t get so selfconscious, so give it a try, she’ll appreciate your doing it for her.
Wear it. What’s the big deal! Americans have suck double standards. Women can wear tiny bikinis but a man can’t. I agree it’s not for everyone. Fat women should wear a 2 price just as a fat man shouldn’t wear a speedo. By the way speedo is a brand swim brief is the correct term. I just started wearing swim briefs again an they are much better! Better tan lines, an more freedom of movement in the water. My GF saw I had a brief tan an while in the shower confronted me about it. She said” um WTF is that tan line” I said “what”? She said that tan an I knew that’s why she was talking about. I said I wanted to get a better all around tan. She said never wear it infront of me. So I proposed going to a clothing optional beach an I won’t. This would be both of our first times. Well I brought my brief to wear in the water so my junk didn’t get stung by jelly or bit by a fish. So I snuck onto the water with out her seeing it an then forgot I had it on an got out the water with her! He caught me an said um I told you not to wear it but I take that back!
Anyway my point is she wants you to wear it! You say you have a good body so why not! Just because 95% of Americans don’t doesn’t mean you can’t! The people that don’t are either too fat, too worried that someone might say something or don’t want to be different. It’s a double standard. I herd someone comment an say swimmers are fine to wear them, but regular people shouldn’t. WTF swimmers are regular people that just swim! Makes no sence! Wear it an be proud. If you are comfortable try going to a clothing option beach! It’s a little scary at first but such a stress reliever because you are free of everything. Everyone is nude, you can’t tell who works at mcDonalds or who is a CEO.
As for the body hair, just get rid of it! Wax or shave. I have no chest hair so I don’t have to wert about that, but I shave my above the knees. Everything from knees up to happy trail!
It’s just a swimsuit. Count yourself lucky that your girl is open minded enough to allow, and even ask you to wear a more comfortable and practical swimsuit.
Most women, at least here in the States have a gross double-standard going. They strut brazenly around in two dots and a dash of fabric barely held together by shoe-strings, but complain about a man wearing a brief swimsuit. . . insisting we wear baggy trousers to swim in.
You don’t need to ask these women for advice. The only woman who matters is the one who loves you and the one you will spend time with.

I wore a thong on a girlfriend’s suggestion when I was a few years younger than you. It took a couple of days to get used to it, but I did, and so will you. SO’s should get a big say in what beachwear you wear, so I would wear it, in your shoes.
