I have been training with a female PT for a few months now and we have a good relationship…. she is training me for a bodybuilding contest (shes a former bodybuilder)
During my training sessions which I pay for by the hour… she gives a lot of compliments to guys who are in shape while I am with her. I understand this is part of her job as this builds rapport and extends her client base… but I thought her focus is meant to be on me??
In my last session there was another guy who is my direct opposition in a state bodybuilding contest.. while I was resting between sets she goes over to him and checks out his body and compliments him in everyway possible. She then realises he will be competing against me (her client) she made me feel awful mentally…
and I am thinking of no longer training with her even though she really pushes me during training… but giving compliments to guys (my main competitior in particular) who don’t even pay her for sessions during my own time of training has totally offended me
What do you think?
gymrat I respect your opinion.. but its like a double edged blade… I have 5.5 weeks to go and I don’t want to be psyched out by anyone. I just want to focus on myself and do the best I can do without worrying about anyone else.
oh really… doing so infront of me just psychs me out.

She is making you work harder. if she complimented you and said you could beat them then you wouldnt work as hard. She is trting to motivate you to give 100% to beat those guys!
She is just complimenting someone. There is nothing unprofessional with acknowledging the accomplishment of someone, even the competition.
