I’m gay, I love rock, and I love the WWE. My room has posters of John Cena and Randy Orton, and some rock bands.
When I meet guys, and go to their rooms, I usually see posters of Christina Aguilera and other female artists.
I sometimes get frustrated because so many of the gay people I know love Celine Dion and other chicks.
I just don’t like them, but I do wonder why do some many gay guys love them.
I just don’t get it. We are gay, we like men. I go to gay guys’ rooms and see a lot of girl posters, you go to my room and you see posters of Randy Orton in speedos, John Cena shirtless, posters of bodybuilders, Bruce Lee, Derek Jeter, and some really cool metal bands.
I just don’t understand! If we like men, why do most gay guys listen to female singers, and have posters of them?

I think a lot of those artists you mention appeal to a feminine nature. I’m with you. I like rock bands and a lot of typical “Guy” things and I’ve always wondered what it was with most gays being in to “chick” stuff. Weird. One of life’s great mysteries. Kinda like, why am I gay to begin with? We may never know.
I cant stand Celine Dion, Cher, Christina, or any of the other female singers I’m sure you could probably think of to stereotype us further with. . . i listen to rock and metal, some country, and a nice blend of some other types of music. I have actual art hung up in my room not posters. Most of the other gay guys i know dont hang posters up anymore either, and dont listen to the stereotypical music you are referring to. . . . i guess it just depends on the individual as to what their taste in music and decor will be.

Pop icons that strike a chord with gay men. These are singers who are able to express what some are afraid to express and that is a whole wide range of different feelings. You won’t see a lot of manly men doing this so it’s women who can do it! Of course not all gay men are into them but in some ways they are sort of a cultural starter for some. . . . to each his own.
Maybe we. . . ahem. Can relate to their music more?
I know I’ve ALWAYS related more to females such as Mariah, Vanessa Carlton and Brandy. Girls just got it like that I guess.
I dunno. It’s not weird though. It’s actually pretty common.
